Art Statement:

This painting called Forgiveness is of a rustic shack that symbolized my heart being forgiven.

 The original oil painting is an impression of a vision I experienced when being forgiven. My heart felt like it was cleansed and healed, with an open door allowing light to pass through a window and open door.

This humble shack symbolized my heart and when closed, had no life until it welcomed the Light of Christ and the dust could be swept away. 

Once forgiven my heart felt warm and inviting.

 I hope this painting may be uplifting in its colours and feeling. I painted it being thankful for God’s Mercy and all the gifts and graces that are bestowed on us in humility.

Jane Appleby is a Burnaby painter and instructor who has painted several murals and commissions. Her spiritual works The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are a permanent installation of Sacred Art at St. Michael’s Church in Burnaby, British Columbia and many of her works have spiritual themes.
