Art Statement:

This painting called Forgiveness is a meditation on forgiveness.

 The original oil painting is an impression of a vision I experienced when being forgiven. My heart felt like it was lit up as this rustic shack with an open door alowed light to pass through.

This shack symbolized my heart and when closed, had no life until it welcomed the Light of Christ and the dust could be swept away. 

 I hope this painting may be uplifting in its colours and feeling. I painted it being thankful for God’s Mercyvand all the gifts and graces that may bestowed on us in humility.

Jane Appleby is a Burnaby painter and instructor who has painted several murals and commissions. Her spiritual works The Gifts of the Holy Spirit are a permanent installation of Sacred Art at St. Michael’s Church in Burnaby, British Columbia and many of her works have spiritual themes.
